Niklas Rye JørgensenProfessor Niklas Rye Jørgensen received his medical degree in 1992 and subsequently a PhD in 2000 both at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Copenhagen. In 1996 he had a visiting fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, USA, where he established his research in the effects of mechanical loading in bone cells and tissue. He is a specialist in clinical chemistry since 2009, and has been the head of Section of Clinical Biochemistry at Rigshospitalet, Glostrup since 2012. In 2014 he became professor at University of Southern Denmark in clinical chemistry and translational bone biology with special focus on the effects of mechanical loading and unloading on the skeleton, a research direction he has pursued since he first started his research carrier.
